Secondary Instructional Device Damage, Repair, & Replacement

Please see the following policies on Instructional Device Damage Repair and Replacement for School Owned Devices and Family Owned Devices. Parents must select one of these two options upon registering their student(s).

 School Owned Device

I have read and understand the HCCSC’s damage, repair, & replacement plan for coverage of theft, loss, or damage of my student’s school owned instructional device as outlined below. HCCSC is offering an optional $40.00 Break/Fix Fee per student to receive discounted pricing for repairs. This fee must be paid by October 31, 2020 or 60 days after enrollment to receive discounted pricing for repairs each year. The $40 Break/Fix Fee offers one year of protection for the first two incidents of accidental damage for the deductible fee schedule indicated in the chart below. The fees listed below cover damaged and lost devices with the optional $40 Break/Fix Fee. Failure to pay the optional $40 fee will discontinue this coverage and upon any damage the full replacement/repair amount will be charged for each occurrence.

block and cord stop working, is damaged, or lost, the student must purchase a new block and cord from HCCSC.

  • Protective Bags: Students are NOT to remove the instructional device from the school issued protective bag for any reason. If there is an issue that may require the bag to be removed, the student should take the instructional device to the school library. Removing the instructional device from the protective bag and causing damage to the instructional device while outside of the bag may result in a higher repair fee.
  • Failure to return school issued instructional device: If the school issued instructional device is not returned at the end of the school year or upon withdrawal from this school district or upon moving to another school district or within 30 days of the time of graduation, the failure to return the school issued instructional device will be considered theft or conversion of the device and this action will be turned over to local law enforcement for prosecution purposes.
  • Lost/stolen Instructional Devices: HCCSC will make every attempt to locate lost and stolen instructional devices. Any reported theft of an instructional device will be fully investigated and reported to authorities. The student will not be charged to replace am instructional device that is confirmed to be stolen.
  • Intentional Damage: Students/Parents are responsible for full payment of intentional damages to the instructional device. Warranty and the HCCSC Break/Fix Fee DOES NOT cover intentional damage of the instructional device. This would also include intentional damage to another student’s instructional device.
  • Students will be issued a loaner device while the instructional device is being repaired.
